George Washington,
our first president under the Constitution, never joined a
political party, and the Constitution makes no reference to
parties. Nevertheless, politics without parties is rare in
America today. There are two major political parties, but a
large number of minor parties come and go. Oklahoma law makes
it particularly difficult for minor parties to appear on the
ballot, but some have succeeded.
These links are
intended to be comprehensive, in the interest of diversity of
ideas, but a few parties, such as Communist and NAZI, have been
intentionally omitted. Tolerance has its limits.
